Gas
Today in class we learned about the properties of gas and played a game were we add gas and take it away, I really liked it. The measures used for gas are pressure, temperature, force and volume. Volume, temperature and pressure are related to gas because volume is how much pressure the gas will have, temperate affects at what speed the gas partials move, and pressure effects how much space the gas has to move and if the space is little it can explode. This was really fun to learn about but the games was the funnest.

Chess Champion vs. Terminator Robot Round One!
Chess playing computer aren’t a new idea. Holy Grail of programs was kipping track of the entire thing about chess ever since computers were invented. Well none of the chess players were able to sit across the robot and start playing chess, until now introducing the chess terminator. The chess terminator plays and acts like a real human, well almost. Chess terminator is a robotic arm with enough dexterity not only the chess pieces but also to press the chess timer when it goes on. It was recently tested against the world champion chess player Vladimir Karmnik which lasted 3 hours. It appears to be seeing all the players moves but the chess pieces are equipped with sensors so the terminator know where the player move it and plan a counter move. The terminator is so energy efficient that it can play up to 3 hours. At 2:45 hours in to the games karmnik called it a draw but the robot didn’t realize that so he snatched karmniks arm. The company plans to make updated version, luckily the new version will know when the game ended.I think this is really interesting, this can improve the making of robots but for now its not really useful.

Meet Momo, The Newest Member Of The Japanese Police Force
You think Chihuahuas are just little cute pets that people have. Well then meet momo, 10inch tall which has been recruited in the japans police forces. Can you believe that one of the world’s smallest dogs is now in the police force? Well he has been recruited to be a member of the search and rescue team of the Western Japanese Prefecture in Nara. They did not hire him because he looks cute they took him because he performed a series of tests of find lost people within five minutes by just sniffing there cap . They think the Chihuahuas are good when an earthquake happen because they can fit in smaller places and not take up a lot of space when their getting there or finding the people unlike the German shepherd that is really big. Chihuahuas got its name for a Mexican country it is the smallest breed of dogs, thank to their spunky attitude they are really popular as pets now. This is really fun to write about but i cant get why they hired chihuahuas.

Surface Tension Reflection
The experiment that we did today in science class was very interesting. We were trying to see how many drops of water would be able to fit on a penny without dropping on the table. I predicted that 5 drops of water would fit but it turned out 63. IT turned out 63 because water molecules attract other water molecules, the hydrogen part of water has a positive charge and the oxygen part of water has a negative charge so they are like a magnet and that’s why water is so cohesive. We put the water droplets on wax paper and moved them around with toothpicks; we tried to make the water droplet as big as it can be. From that I figured that even a tiny drop of soap can break the water tension. This experiment was really funny because we saw how many water droplets can fit on a penny and it was much more then we expected.

Goo Worms
This experiment that we did was really fun. We created goo worms by mixing liquid sodium alginate with calcium chloride, it makes a chemical that at the touch of calcium chloride, liquid sodium alginate turns into a gooey plastic that is basically like liquid. It was really fun when we played with the corn starch, it was almost the same thing but the goo worm was more like a solid then a liquid and corn starch was liquid that when you continuously put pressure on it, it turns into solid. The goo worms were really cool and I liked playing with it.
Get up close and personal with micro monsters
Many of us know the small insects and animals but what about creatures that are not visible with a naked. Well zoologists Tom Jackson put some of these terrifying creatures in a book called micro monsters. The British resident who wanted to show children the living creature around them spend three months making the images. In order to have such amazing detail they coated the creature with gold and then frozen in liquid nitrogen technique called Transmission Electron Microscopy, where by a beam is transmitted through these bugs creating crystal clear pictures. One creature is an aphid- the bane of avid farmers. They leach on healthy plants and suck out the sap. The best way to combat them is to fill your garden with ladybugs that devour them. A Louse feeds on skin and other debris of the person’s body. It is one of the 3000 insects that are known to attack humans. Corn Starch.
What happened when you held it, let it drip, squeezed it, punched it, poked it and scooped it?
When I held it dripped and when I dripped it was like slime and when I punched it turned into a solid when you poke it, it just go through and when I scoped it, it just go out of your hands.
What happened when there was too much water? When there wasn't enough water?
When there was too much water it was just liquid and if there was tool little water it was a solid.
Did the substance change after time?
After some time the water goes out and it turns into corn starch.
How did your hands react to this mixture?
They reacted by feeling very weird
What further inquiry (questions or tests) could you do? What tests could you run next time or which ones did you run today that would provide evidence to your conclusion of whether it is solid or liquid material?
I want to try to see if creating a tower with that is possible.
What materials could you use at home to test the differences between white powders?
Water I just mix water with them and see what happens.

Wish to improve your math skills? Zap your brain.
Do you ever wish that your were very good at math without doing anything? Its simple all you have to do is to zap your brain with a weak current of electricity and you will be smart at math. At least that’s what a team of British sciences from London’s oxford university. They wanted to see if the brain would work better with numbers if it was shocked. So they had 15 volunteers split into 3 groups. Every day they would do 2 math problems but to make it harder the replaced numbers with symbols. They were all put to a 20-minute session of a light electric current to the parietal lobes. The two groups were doing different thing one the electricity was going left to right and for the other right to left. The group that was zapped from right to left made a big improvement while the group form left to right were at a 6 years old level. I wish they would put this on sale but improve it since i don't want to risk losing my math skills.

Styrofoam That Will Protect Your Television and Garden!
Styrofoam, the thing we get in every package fill up 25% of our landfills and contains 1.5 liters of gas in every cubic feet. Now scientists invented an alternative that is fully recyclable and doesn’t use earth resource. Ecocradle the alternative of Styrofoam can be made with any useless product from agriculture which can be anything from corn husks in Chine to oat hulls in the USA or soybeans husks in Spain. The husks are first cleaned, cooked and cooled, When they are finished they are pasteurized and then mixed with mycelium which s the root system of mushrooms. The result is that they put it in the shape they want and are left for 5 days to let the materials to react. After that it turns in a material similar to Styrofoam. It is water resistant, insulating and able to resists physical and acoustical impacts. The best part is that it can decomposes complety and give good soil for the ground. This is really and we can use it for packaging because it can fully decompose.

Rings of Saturn will disappear today.
The ring of Saturn is almost completely water and ice with some dust or chemicals. The ring is 170,000 miles wide. The ring holds 35 trillion-trillion tons of dust rocks and ice. The reason that the ring is visible and shiny is because it reflects the sun, but every 15 years the ring turn reflecting no sun. Saturn’s ring is bit of a mystery because scientists don’t know how it formed. Saturn has an orbit of 29.7 years but we have 365 days. The famous predictor Galileo Galilei was the first man to discover the change of Saturn’s ring in 17th century, through one of his telescopes made by himself. He didn’t know what they were sand he couldn’t see closely enough so he thought that Saturn had two big ears. Then after studying it for 2 years he says it disappear and dint know what to say. There are still some thing for us to still learn about Saturn’s ring.

This lizard runs on water-really!!!
There is one lizard that can run on water. It lives in tropical forests in south and North America. It name is the Jesus Christ lizard. It can weight from 200-600 grams and they grow up to 3 feet. They are able to perform an impossible task running on water, thanks to its large feet and toes which have flaps that allow them to run on water, if they run at a rapid pace. Young lizards can run from 10 to 20 meters before they sink, but adults can only run a few meters. When the lizard sinks if starts to swim at a rapid pace allowing them to get away from the predators, but also trying to not go deep because of the water predator looking for a snack. They are also masters at camouflage and they are omnivore which means that they will almost eat anything.

Volcanoes are dangerous sources of energy
Scientist use volcanoes to try to extract energy. One of their experiments was to drill into a volcano and make a well. Then after the well is made they inject cold water before the well is properly heated. The final goal is to produce high pressure superheated dry steam.
The first well that was created was called RN-17. It is located at Reykjanes area. It was first drilled to 3082 m then they drilled another 800 m. They tried to drill to 4500 m but they realized that it would take 115 days longer so they didn’t do it. When they started putting down the drillstring it came upon a molten rock 2104 m. Fortunately they pulled out the drillstring on time so everything was under control. Same problems occurred also at Krafla and Hawaii. The good thing about these studies is that researchers have the opportunity to learn more about injecting cold water into magma.

Spray on fashion
Spray on fashion is created from the company of Fabricana. It was created by a Manel Torres a Spanish designer and a professor of a partial technology Paul Lukham. It is just a spray that you spray on you and it turns into clothes, it is washable. They think that it won’t irritate a wound if you spray it on it. There are some problems that are the clothes may be to snuggle and the smell of the solvent, which is very strong and lingers around the clothing. Although researchers say that it will be solved soon. I think that this is very good but I wonder what they use to make it and if it can cause harm to earth or people. When will it come out to buy and will it be expensive and how long will it take to make a good looking shirt.
